Employee Assistance Program- “SPARSH”

People undergo tremendous stress on various accounts: family, spouse, children, difficult colleague, peer pressure etc. More often than not, they find it difficult to share the problem with family and friends for the fear of being judged.

At CSC India, we believe that emotional health of our employees is as important as their physical health, and for this reason, we have launched the employee assistance program, “SPARSH”, which assists our people and their immediate family members to identify challenges and resolve them confidentially and effectively through counselling services provided by qualified and experienced counsellors. Complete confidentiality is maintained by the counsellors in the matter. This facility comes free of cost to our people and their immediate family members.

Rewards & Recognitions Program- “The Accolades”

The Accolades program supports our work culture and philosophy of “employee recognition” and reinforces and rewards the most important outcome that employees create for the company’s business.

Believing in this philosophy, CSC India’s “Employee Recognition” policy promotes a work culture that recognises and rewards significant contributions of employees beyond their routine jobs. The program recognises achievements, rewards the right behaviour, reinforces company values and establishes consistent practices across CSC India to build a high performance culture.

The Accolades’ categories of awards include the CEO award, Leader of the Year award, Technical Excellence award, Customer Excellence award, CSC Icon, Best Team, Super Boss and Young Turks, Best Internal Trainer, Best Suggestion, Team Member of the Month, Employee of the Quarter, Pat on the Back and Thank You Notes.

Buddy Program

With the endeavour to provide a comfortable and supportive work environment to a new joinee while he/she gets adjusted to the new workplace, CSC India has recently launched a new initiative called Buddy program where each new joinee would be assigned a Buddy. A Buddy is a person who will help the new joinee through the initial few weeks to settle in and acquaint himself/herself with the organisation and its culture.

Through this program, we tend to fulfill two main objectives. One, to provide the new employee with a point of contact for general queries regarding day-to-day operational issues such as location of facilities, relevant company policies etc. Another reason is to help the new employee integrate with the company by providing him/her access to someone who is familiar with our culture, attitude and expectations. Through this program, we tend to alleviate the stress new employees normally endure in a new work place. The role of a Buddy is open to all employees who have been with CSC for at least six months.

Diversity Initiative

Explosive growth for CSC India is evidence of plentiful business opportunities. However, another boom is emerging - that of women working in the IT sector. This Women’s Day, CSC India launched the " CSC India Diversity" initiative, a program to support gender diversity and attract and retain our women employees. The underlying principle for CSC India Diversity initiative is that gender diversity leads to a more creative, flexible and innovative organisation that is in tune with the society and the market. We believe that by recognising the strengths of each gender, working relationships become more productive and also increase the mutual understanding, respect and trust.

As part of our CSC India Diversity initiative, a diversity council has been set up at each CSC location in India , which is supported by an HR representative. A helpline has also been launched, called “Helpline@Planet W”, to support communication between our women employees and council members.

Another supporting program being launched is the mentoring program, which will focus on skill and career development of women ; this is in addition to the regular workshops and training that our people avail at CSC. Members of the senior management at CSC India are volunteering as mentors in this initiative.

Other than that, CSC India has also held, for the first time a training program on wellness and self-defense, as well as a free health camp for our women employees.

Employee Committees

At CSC India, we have 100% employee elected and managed committees, viz. Recreational, Employee Advisory, Food and Social Services, at all our locations. These committees are democratically elected by our people, have an annual budget and are self-managed. The committees are a platform for employees to display their leadership and management skills, as well as a platform where our energetic young employees get to constructively utilise their time and energy.

The Social Services Committee, for example, completely manages the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives at CSC. The committee is mentored by the senior management and it works with the help of employee volunteers. The SSC give our people the opportunity to give back to the society.

Sabbatical Programs

To encourage and support the cause of employees who aspire to acquire higher educational qualification, or work voluntarily for a social cause or for our women employees on maternity leave for postnatal care, CSC India provides a platform to opt for sabbaticals.

Individual Development Plans

CSC India believes that every individual should have the opportunity to realise his/her ambitions and potential. We firmly believe that the interests of the business and our clients are best served by creating an environment that enables the achievement of career goals and places a high value on learning.

To encourage employee development, one of the mandatory key result areas (KRAs) of all employees is the Individual Development Plan, which gives opportunity to our people to develop themselves and become well-rounded professionals. To that end, we offer support to our employees using a number of integrated approaches, including:

  • Encouraging and facilitating career growth and personal development
  • Career growth support from managers and other members of the management team
  • Internal and external education directed at preparing employees for future assignments and continued professional development

Part Time Employment Program

The program aims to provide a framework for effective planning for new employees who may be interested in applying for part time employment at CSC. Employees may have a personal exigency and seek the assistance of CSC in the form of reduced work hours for a limited period.

Education Assistance Program

CSC India supports its people in their purpose of pursuing higher studies. This may be coursework of a recognised degree at an accredited educational institution, a recognised professional designation, or a certification that directly supports an employee’s career development. Most of these courses are funded by the organisation.

Employee Touch / Employee Engagement Initiatives

Apart from HR reaching out to employees, CSC’s senior management also reaches out to employees through various forums like People Hours, Skip levels, Focus Group Meetings and reinforces our value of two-way communication.
