CSC India participated in the fifth annual NASSCOM HR Summit 2008 scheduled on July 3-4, 2008 in Chennai. CSC participated consecutively for the second year as a Badge & Lanyard Sponsor and four delegates from CSC India HR team attended the summit on both these days. The theme for this year’s conference was ‘
Managing Change’ and focused exclusively on workforce related issues and concerns.
More than 600 delegates had registered for the event and over 40 speakers representing over 350 IT, BPO and other companies addressed the gathering.
The inaugural session was attended by C Chandramouli, IT secretary, Tamil Nadu and Som Mittal, President, NASSCOM. The panel discussions and deliberations focused on how the workforce within the industry can be managed during this period of maturity, consolidation and change and how the HR function can play the role of a change catalyst. The panel discussions and speaker presentations also analytically looked at the critical need of HR to move beyond recruitment and attrition issues, and evolve within the organization with a more meaningful role for itself. The summit provided a platform to examine the various burning issues and challenges faced by the HR community in the IT industry. The speakers shared insights on how HR can help build skill sets in niche services, develop leadership competencies and expand the pool of talent in companies.
Bala Mahadevan, President & Managing Director, CSC India Operations spoke in the conference on July 4 on the topic, “
Best Practices to Next Practices: Can India lead next generation HR practices". The session provided an overview of next generation HR practices including recruitment strategies that can enable organizations to source global class talent and secure their future. It was an excellent presentation intriguing the audience and creating a remarkable impact with the best of messages including humor at the right places. During the event, Mr. Mahadevan also briefed selected journalists on CSC and its operations in India, along with an update of FY07-08.
