News Release-- September 29, 2005
CSC WINS $17.6 MILLION DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE CONTRACT TO SUPPORT THE NATIONAL GATEWAY CENTER
EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Sept. 29 – Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) announced today that it has been awarded a contract to provide a wide range of support services to the Defense Information Systems Agency’s (DISA) National Gateway Center, a multi-level secure messaging switch center for the Department of Defense. CSC estimates the value of the contract, which has a one-year base period and four one-year options, to be approximately $17.6 million if all options are exercised.
The new agreement follows and is incremental to a five-year, $24.8 million contract signed in 2000, under which CSC provides similar support services to the DISA’s Defense Message System Transition Hub.
Under the terms of the new agreement, CSC will provide the National Gateway Center with engineering services, equipment maintenance and logistics, and applications support. In addition, CSC will continue to provide the DISA with critical mission-support and legacy messaging services to ensure Defense Message System interoperability with the intelligence community, other federal government organizations and the nation’s allies.
“We are pleased to continue our 40-year relationship with the DISA,” said Ashley Smith, president of CSC’s Networks and Telecommunications Integrated Solutions organization. “Having worked with the DISA since 1962 to provide technological support for their multilevel secure messaging systems and for various DoD agencies, CSC has a solid legacy of experience to help the agency produce significant operational results for our nation’s warfighters.”
Approximately 21 CSC technicians, engineers and management professionals will perform the work at the NGC located at Fort Detrick, Md., supporting as many as 10,000 classified users worldwide, either direct-connected or through the Government Defense Message System using NIPRNET and SIPRNET.
The DISA is the premier provider of the Department of Defense’s secure messaging backbone and serves as a vital link in the transfer of multi-level secure information among the department’s personnel, contractors, other U.S. government agencies and allies.
