CSC establishes basic computer education facility in Government Hindi Middle School No. 8, Pardeshipura

Indore, December 26, 2002: A basic computer education facility established by Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), was inaugurated by Dr. Arun Maheshwari, Managing Director & CEO of CSC’s operations in India, at Govt. Hindi Middle School No. 8, Pardesipura, today.

The Government Hindi Middle School No. 8, situated in Clerk Colony, was established in 1956 and currently has over 225 students. The school has six full time teachers employed by the M.P. state government. The school caters to children of economically backward families and provides education to children from Classes VI to VIII.

CSC was allotted a room of approximately 500 sq feet to set up the computer education facility. The social service committee of CSC India, Indore, worked hard to develop the infrastructure and started the facility with two computers and basic furniture required to run it. CSC India plans to increase this and also provide a permanent computer teacher at a later stage. Other plans for the benefit of the school include a cleaning up drive, regular medical check ups for teachers and students, providing school uniforms, etc.

The social service committees of CSC India work towards extending the reach of CSC India’s social and community projects, with unflagging determination. CSC India is currently involved in a large number of community development projects including adoption of three villages Nayagaon, Sagarpaisa and Lalpura, establishing an art and culture centre at Sewa Mandir, school for visually, speech and hearing impaired children, organising blood donation camps and providing street lights, medical facilities, primary & adult education. “CSC India is a socially conscious company and has been ever willing to support the local community of Indore in various ways. We are delighted to establish this facility and look forward to working closely with the school on a long term basis ” said Dr. Maheshwari at the inauguration. Dr. Maheshwari shares warm ties with Indore and set up CSC’s India operations here six years ago. Since then, CSC India has grown to be a force to reckon with in the IT services industry. Its spectrum of services includes consulting, systems integration and outsourcing and the company has developed domain expertise in property and casualty insurance, banking and healthcare.

CSC India is a fully owned subsidiary of California based Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) which is one of the world’s leading software and services company. It reported revenues of $11.4 billion for the 12 months ended Sept. 27, 2002 and has 65,000 people worldwide. For more information, visit the company’s web site at www.csc.com.
